Answer to the question from Benny
  • I’d like to know if gold powder can be added to water-based Texprint bases.

There are a number of ways to achieve glittery prints.

Glittery prints using Plast and gold powder:
Mix the glitter with transparent Plast HS, you need to use a 12-13T frame otherwise the glitter won’t go through.

However, printing using a 12-13T frame can pose a number of problems, so an alternative technique is preferred:

    • print using transparent Plast HS with a 34T frame
    • dust the glitter onto the freshly laid ink
    • get rid of the excess glitter by shaking it off onto a paper sheet
    • heat the print to 160 °C with the glitter attached.

If you prefer to use water-based inks for your glittery prints, especially on dark backgrounds, the Texprint Metallic Gold and Texprint Metallic Silver inks are available. They include very fine glitter which can be printed using a 34T frame.
